I pay attention when things become disproportionate. When there is more information than digestion, or more abstraction than physical grounding. When speed becomes a substitute for thinking, and optimization prevents juniors from learning.
That is usually where the future problem is hiding.
My process is simple. I observe what is being celebrated and listen for what isn’t being questioned. I trace the incentives, check the data, the history, and the sources.
Because if the narrative and the structure don’t match, the structure always wins.
